Enforcement Directorate Team Attacked During Cyber Fraud Raids in Delhi; Senior Official Injured

An Enforcement Directorate (ED) team was attacked on Thursday while conducting searches in connection with a cyber fraud-linked money laundering case in the Bijwasan area of the national capital. The incident left one senior officer injured and disrupted the operation temporarily.

According to sources, the attack occurred during a raid at a farmhouse belonging to Chartered Accountant (CA) Ashok Kumar, who is suspected of ties to a massive cybercrime network. The attackers reportedly hurled furniture at ED officials, injuring Additional Director of the agency. Visuals from the scene showed a broken chair, highlighting the chaos that unfolded.

The Enforcement Directorate issued a statement confirming the raids, stating, “The Enforcement Directorate’s High-Intensity Unit (HIU) launched extensive searches today targeting top chartered accountants allegedly linked to a massive cybercrime network operating across India. The raids follow an investigation that uncovered the laundering of illicit funds generated from thousands of cybercrimes, including phishing scams, QR code fraud, and part-time job scams.”

Two women officers were also present at the time of the attack. Following the incident, the assailants fled the scene, but one individual, identified as Yash, a relative of the farmhouse owner, was detained by the police for questioning.

The Delhi Police confirmed the incident and dispatched a team to assist the ED. An FIR has been registered, and further investigations are underway to apprehend the culprits and gather evidence related to the case.

This development underscores the risks faced by investigative teams during high-stakes operations targeting organized cybercrime. The ED’s probe continues, aiming to dismantle the network behind these illegal activities.
