In a series of symbolic posts, tech mogul and Tesla CEO Elon Musk expressed his satisfaction following the Republican Party’s victory in securing control of the U.S. Senate. Musk, who has openly endorsed former President Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential race, shared his views on social media, calling America “a nation of builders” and posting a picture of himself with a sink, captioned “Let That Sink In.”
Musk’s posts implied a readiness for Trump’s return to power, stating, “Soon, you will be free to build,” signaling a vision of reduced government restrictions under Trump’s potential presidency. The GOP’s Senate victory was secured with critical wins in West Virginia and Ohio on Tuesday, ensuring that Republicans will hold at least a 51-49 majority in the Senate.
The election saw Republican Jim Justice projected to win the open Senate seat in West Virginia, previously held by Democrat-turned-independent Joe Manchin. In Ohio, Republican Bernie Moreno defeated incumbent Democrat Sherrod Brown, further solidifying the GOP’s influence.
While the battle for control of the House of Representatives remains undecided, the Republican hold on the Senate marks a significant political shift. If Trump wins the presidential race, the GOP Senate majority could streamline the appointment of conservative judges and government officials, or alternatively, the majority could act to block much of Vice President Kamala Harris’s legislative agenda if she prevails.
