A tragic incident occurred in Pune on Monday when a dumper truck ran over people sleeping on a footpath, resulting in the deaths of three individuals, including two children. The victims, identified as Vaibhavi Pawar (1), Vaibhav Pawar (2), and Vishal Pawar (22), were among a group of people sleeping in the Wagholi area around 12:30 am. Six others were injured and have been hospitalized at Sassoon General Hospital.

According to a senior police official, many of the victims were laborers who had been resting on the footpath near Kesnand Phata. They had arrived in Pune from Amravati, Maharashtra, the day before to work at local construction sites. Locals reported that most of those affected were staying in nearby shanties.

The truck driver has been taken into custody, and authorities are investigating whether he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
