Diabetic Arvind Kejriwal purposefully eating mangoes, sweets in jail: ED

Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, was charged on Thursday by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) with eating sweets and mangoes despite having diabetes. According to the report, the AAP leader was manipulating his blood sugar levels in order to establish a case for bail.
The court permitted Kejriwal to have home-cooked meals. He had filed a request with the Special Court to be able to consult virtually with his physician three times a week in order to have his blood sugar and other vitals checked. After the ED told the court that Kejriwal had been purposefully consuming a lot of “unsuitable” food to raise his blood sugar levels, the application was withdrawn.

Vivek Jain, Kejriwal’s attorney, disputed the ED’s assertions, charging that it was making statements intended for public consumption. After that, Kejriwal withdrew the application, planning to submit an amended one.

Kejriwal’s plea was rejected by Special Public Prosecutor Zoheb Hossain, who claimed that Kejriwal’s eating habits were intended to use his blood sugar swings as a justification for requesting bail.

Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party leader Atishi Thursday evening has alleged a “conspiracy to kill Kejriwal, “claiming the Delhi Chief Minister – a Type 2 diabetes patient – “is not being given insulin despite repeated requests”.
