Dhruv Jurel Misses Ton But Wins Hearts, Gets Standing Ovation

Day 3 of the fourth Test match between India and England in Ranchi on Sunday saw Dhruv Jurel emerge as the team’s best batsman, but the young player was heartbroken to lose out on a first-century. Tom Hartley dismissed the wicket-keeper batsman on 90 after he played a determined knock against the English bowlers, despite his apparent fine touch. Mohammed Siraj was quick to comfort him, seeing through his obvious disappointment at missing the significant occasion. On the other hand, his teammates gave him a standing ovation, and the crowd cheered him on for his hard knock.

Meanwhile, Indian cricket team batter Rinku Singh took to social media to share an emotional message for Dhruv Jurel after the youngster slammed a brilliant half-century on Day 3 of the fourth Test match against England in Ranchi on Sunday. Rinku shared an old picture with Jurel along with the caption – “Mere bhai, sapne saakaar karane ka samay aa gaya hai (My brother, it’s time to make dreams come true)”. Both cricketers play for Uttar Pradesh in domestic cricket.

Jurel made his debut in the third Test in Rajkot, hit six fours and four sixes in his 149-ball stay and picked up his maiden Test half-century. The 23-year-old is the latest talented new player to shine for India in the absence of the experienced players like Virat Kohli and KL Rahul.
