Devendra Fadnavis to Be Sworn in as Maharashtra CM; PM Modi to Attend Ceremony

Devendra Fadnavis is set to take the oath as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra today in a high-profile ceremony. The event will be graced by the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with other senior political leaders and dignitaries.

This will be Devendra Fadnavis’s third non-consecutive term as Chief Minister of Maharashtra. He served in the top post from October 2014 to November 2019. His second stint, however, lasted only five days, from November 23 to 28, 2019, after the Shiv Sena walked out of an alliance with the saffron party.
This marks a significant moment in Maharashtra’s political landscape as Fadnavis, known for his administrative acumen, prepares to assume the state’s leadership once again. The ceremony is expected to draw wide attention, reflecting the importance of the occasion.

Earlier, BJP won 132 seats in an assembly of 288 while Ajit Pawar’s NCP won 41 seats and Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena won 57 seats. The opposition Maha Aghadi Alliance could barely win 46 seats in all, with Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena winning 20 seats, Congress 16 and Sharad Pawar’s NCP 10.
