Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Seeks Vote of Confidence Amid Alleged BJP Maneuvers

In a dramatic move, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has placed a motion seeking a vote of confidence in the Assembly, scheduled for discussion on Saturday, February 17. The announcement comes amidst allegations of attempted government destabilization by the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Addressing the Assembly, Kejriwal highlighted the trend of governments being toppled in other states through what he described as the manipulation of legal processes, citing false cases as a tool. He specifically pointed to alleged attempts to arrest leaders of his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) under the pretext of a liquor policy case. Kejriwal asserted that the BJP’s motive behind such actions is to dismantle the democratically elected Delhi government, acknowledging their inability to win elections in the capital.

During his speech, Kejriwal disclosed that two AAP MLAs had informed him of offers amounting to Rs 25 crore each from BJP members, allegedly in exchange for defecting. These attempts, Kejriwal claimed, were accompanied by threats of his own arrest and the subsequent collapse of the government. He vehemently denied the validity of the excise policy case, labeling it as false and orchestrated to undermine his administration.

In a bold move, Kejriwal announced his intention to bring the vote of confidence in the Delhi Assembly, underscoring the unity and integrity of his party’s legislators.

This development unfolds against the backdrop of the fifth Budget session of the Legislative Assembly of the National Capital Territory of Delhi. Kejriwal also took the opportunity to criticize the BJP, accusing them of manipulating the Governor’s speech with falsehoods during the session.
