Puneet Khurana, who co-owned the bakery “For God’s Cake” and previously ran “Woodbox Cafe,” was reportedly found hanging at his home. The couple, married since 2016, had been embroiled in disputes related to their personal and business matters. According to the police, Puneet’s wife was the last person he spoke to before his death, and their conversation revolved around issues related to the bakery.
Reports suggest that an argument ensued during the call, which was allegedly recorded by Manika Pahwa and shared with her relatives. In the recorded conversation, Puneet’s wife can reportedly be heard saying, “You are calling me at 3 am, can’t you sleep? You disrespected me and my family.” Puneet’s response was, “All these things have no meaning right now… Tell me what you want now.”
Adding to the allegations, Puneet’s sister claimed that Manika Pahwa, along with her sister and parents, subjected him to sustained harassment. “There is a video recording of around 59 minutes in which Puneet mentioned the details of the harassment he faced. The woman even hacked his social media account,” she said, as per ANI.
Police have seized Puneet’s phone and are investigating the case. The family’s allegations, coupled with the recorded conversations and video evidence, are likely to play a key role in the inquiry.
This case bears a resemblance to a recent incident in Bengaluru, where a techie named Atul Subhash died by suicide amid allegations of harassment by his wife and in-laws. Atul left behind a 24-page suicide note detailing the alleged harassment and was found with a placard reading “Justice is due.”
