Congress Leader’s Daughter Stabbed to Death on Karnataka Campus

In a tragic incident that has sent shockwaves through Karnataka, Neha Hiremath, the daughter of prominent Karnataka Congress leader Niranjan Hiremath, was brutally stabbed to death on her college campus. The assailant, identified as Fayaz, a former student of KLE Technological University in Hubballi, allegedly attacked Neha after she reportedly rejected his advances.

Neha, a first-year Master of Computer Applications (MCA) student, encountered Fayaz on the campus, where they had previously studied together. Fayaz, who had dropped out of college six months prior after failing an examination, is said to have engaged in a brief conversation with Neha before launching a violent attack captured on CCTV footage.

The shocking footage depicts Neha walking backward as Fayaz approaches her, ultimately stabbing her repeatedly in a horrifying assault. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, Neha succumbed to her injuries and was declared brought dead. Her body has since been transferred to Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) Hospital.

Hubballi Dharwad Police Commissioner Renuka Sukumar confirmed that Fayaz was swiftly apprehended within 90 minutes of the attack. Investigations into the motive behind the heinous crime are ongoing, with authorities gathering information from witnesses and preparing for Fayaz’s interrogation.

Fayaz, hailing from Savadatti in Belagavi district, is reported to be the son of government school teachers. The incident has sparked outrage and calls for justice across the region, shedding light on issues of campus safety and the prevalence of violence against women.

Neha’s father, Niranjan Hiremath, who serves as the Congress councillor of the Hubballi Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC), has expressed profound grief over the loss of his daughter.
