China has demanded that the United States immediately release Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife. Both are currently in U.S. custody. The U.S. military reportedly apprehended them in Caracas, the Venezuelan capital, and transported them to the United States. The Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement issued on Sunday that taking the president out of his country in this manner is unacceptable.
