Centre Sends Notice to Punjab Government Over IVF Birth of Sidhu Moosewala’s Brother

In a significant development, the Centre has issued a notice to the Punjab government concerning the recent birth of Sidhu Moosewala’s sibling through IVF technology. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has demanded a report from the state government regarding the legality of the birth, as the mother, Charan Kaur, reportedly gave birth at the age of 56.

Citing the Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Act of 2021, the Centre highlighted that the age limit for a woman to undergo IVF procedures in India ranges from 21 to 50 years. The Ministry’s letter to the Punjab government emphasized the need for compliance with these regulations and requested a detailed report on the actions taken in response to Moosewala’s mother’s case.

The situation has drawn further attention due to allegations suggesting that Charan Kaur and her husband, Balkaur Singh, sought IVF assistance abroad, bypassing Indian regulations. According to government sources, accessing ART facilities abroad may have been pursued due to the legal constraints in India.

In the midst of these developments, accusations of harassment have emerged from Sidhu Moosewala’s family, particularly from his father, Balkaur Singh. In a recent Instagram post, Singh claimed that the Punjab government has been subjecting the family to harassment following the birth of his second son. He expressed frustration over the authorities’ demands for documentation to prove the newborn’s legality, attributing the ordeal to government pressure.
