The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday filed a chargesheet against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the Rouse Avenue Court, intensifying the scrutiny on the ongoing excise policy case. The investigation has drawn significant public and political attention, centering on alleged irregularities and financial misconduct related to the Delhi excise policy.
The chargesheet follows an extensive probe into the alleged misuse of the excise policy, which has implicated high-profile individuals and raised questions about the integrity of the administration’s financial practices. The CBI’s move comes amid increasing challenges for Kejriwal, who now faces serious allegations that could impact his role as Chief Minister and reshape the political landscape in the national capital.
In response to the chargesheet, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has vehemently defended Kejriwal, with Rajya Sabha MP Sandeep Pathak addressing the media in a press conference. Pathak alleged that Kejriwal is being treated as a “political prisoner” and claimed that a conspiracy is at play.
“Kejriwal is a political prisoner. Everyone knows how dictatorships have treated political prisoners. Efforts are being made to scare him so that he does not raise his voice,” Pathak stated. Highlighting Kejriwal’s long-term health issues, Pathak revealed that the Delhi CM, who has suffered from severe diabetes for 30 years, experienced hypoglycemia multiple times while in judicial custody.
“His sugar levels declined 34 times between June 3 and July 7. This is a serious issue. He is not an ordinary person. He is an elected chief minister,” Pathak emphasized. He further mentioned that AAP has discussed the matter with its INDIA bloc allies and announced plans to hold a rally on July 30 in support of Kejriwal.
