Bomb Threat on Delhi-Varanasi IndiGo Flight Turns Out to Be Hoax

A bomb threat on IndiGo flight 6E2211 from Delhi to Varanasi led to the evacuation of 176 passengers early Monday morning. The flight, which was scheduled to take off at 5:35 am, was taken to an isolation bay at Delhi airport after the threat was received.

According to the Delhi Fire Service, all passengers were safely evacuated onto the tarmac through the aircraft’s emergency exits. A quick response team was dispatched to the site to begin a thorough search of the aircraft.

Airport officials reported that the flight received a specific bomb threat, prompting immediate action as per security protocol. The aircraft was inspected by a bomb disposal squad to ensure the safety of all passengers and crew. “After all security checks are completed, the aircraft will be positioned back in the terminal area,” an airport official stated.

A senior official from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) mentioned that the threat was determined to be a hoax. However, there has been no official confirmation from airport authorities yet. The alert was raised after the flight crew discovered a note with the word “bomb” written on it in the aircraft’s lavatory before takeoff.

“A tissue paper, with the word ‘bomb’ written on it, was found in the lavatory of IndiGo flight 6E2211 from Delhi to Varanasi at the Delhi airport, prompting security agencies to conduct an inspection but it turned out to be a hoax,” the CISF official confirmed.

The incident caused significant disruption but no harm to passengers or crew. Security measures remain tight, and investigations are ongoing to identify the source of the hoax threat.
