Bollywood superstar Salman Khan received yet another death threat on Tuesday, as an unknown individual issued a Rs 2 crore extortion demand, warning that the actor would be killed if the sum was not paid. The threatening message, directed at Khan, was received by the Mumbai Police Traffic Control Room early in the day, triggering an investigation and a heightened security response.
An FIR has been lodged against an unidentified individual at the Worli Police Station under sections 354(2) and 308(4) of the Indian Penal Code. This marks the latest in a series of death threats and extortion attempts aimed at Khan over the past few months. Earlier this month, the Mumbai Police received a similar threat via WhatsApp, with a Rs 5 crore ransom demand.
In an escalating string of threats, a 20-year-old man from Noida, Uttar Pradesh, was recently arrested after issuing a separate death threat against Salman Khan and NCP leader Zeeshan Siddique. The accused allegedly made the threats on Siddique’s helpline number, following up with a voice call where he threatened both the actor and the politician. Police tracked and apprehended the suspect through technical evidence.
The recent threats are reportedly linked to the high-profile murder of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, who was killed outside his son Zeeshan’s office in Bandra on October 12. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has allegedly claimed responsibility for the murder, citing Baba Siddique’s close relationship with Salman Khan as one of the reasons for the killing.
This isn’t the first time Salman Khan has been targeted by gang-related threats. In April, two men on a motorcycle allegedly hired by the Bishnoi gang opened fire outside Khan’s Bandra residence. Police investigations have revealed that the Bishnoi gang may have plotted a more extensive attack on the actor, posing an ongoing threat to his life.
Mumbai Police have responded by increasing security around Khan, with officers keeping close watch on his residence and whereabouts as they continue to investigate the origin of the threats and ensure his safety.
