Bill Gates Quietly Donates $50 Million to Support Kamala Harris in 2024 Presidential Race

Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft and one of the world’s richest individuals, has discreetly donated $50 million to Future Forward USA Action, a nonprofit group supporting Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris, according to a report by The New York Times. The donation, intended to remain confidential, highlights Gates’ quiet concern over the prospect of a second Trump presidency in the upcoming November 5 election.

Future Forward USA Action is classified as a “dark money” organization, meaning it is not required to disclose its donors. As such, Gates’ contribution will not appear on any public record. Gates has not made a public endorsement of Harris but is reportedly troubled by the potential global health and family planning cuts a Trump re-election could trigger. His philanthropic organization, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, has long focused on these areas.

In a statement responding to the report, Gates emphasized his bipartisan approach to political support but acknowledged the heightened stakes in the 2024 election. “I support candidates who demonstrate a clear commitment to improving health care, reducing poverty, and fighting climate change in the US and around the world,” Gates said, stressing the “unprecedented significance” of this election for both Americans and vulnerable global populations.

Despite privately supporting Harris, Gates reiterated his willingness to work with leaders from either party, noting that his focus remains on addressing critical global issues.

Gates’ ex-wife, Melinda French Gates, has openly endorsed Harris, joining over 80 billionaires who have publicly backed her campaign. Meanwhile, Elon Musk, another of the world’s wealthiest individuals, has thrown his support behind Harris’ opponent, Donald Trump.

Harris, who recently turned 60, faces Trump, now 78, in what promises to be a fiercely contested election. If Trump wins, he will become the oldest presidential nominee to secure the White House.
