A Bengaluru man’s social media post about receiving a laptop just 13 minutes after placing an order has gone viral, drawing widespread attention online and resulting in an unexpected gift from the e-commerce giant Flipkart.
Sunny R Gupta, a software developer from Bengaluru, shared his experience on X (formerly Twitter), where he detailed ordering a laptop through Flipkart’s new “Flipkart Minutes” service. The service, which promises delivery within 15 minutes, exceeded his expectations by delivering the laptop in just 13 minutes. Sunny’s post quickly gained traction, going viral overnight and attracting millions of views and media attention.
In his follow-up posts, Sunny clarified that his experience was genuine and not part of any marketing stunt or promotional activity by Flipkart. He recounted how he was casually browsing for a new Windows laptop during a meetup at a Starbucks in Bengaluru when he stumbled upon a model that fit his budget and requirements on Flipkart. Intrigued by the new feature offering 15-minute delivery, he decided to test it out, assuming it would be more convenient than waiting a day for traditional delivery.
“To my surprise, the laptop arrived in just 13 minutes, and I posted about it in real-time,” Sunny wrote on X. “The posts went viral overnight, garnering millions of views and attracting attention from various media outlets. I want to emphasize that I had no incentive to create a viral moment or engage in any marketing ploy. The posts were purely my personal experience, shared out of genuine surprise and excitement.”
Following the viral success of his post, Flipkart’s marketing team reached out to Sunny and offered him a laptop bag as a token of appreciation for the unexpected publicity. “Once the post became popular, Flipkart’s marketing team did offer me a laptop bag for all the buzz this ended up creating. Thank you for your understanding and support,” Sunny added.
Flipkart has recently launched its quick commerce service, Flipkart Minutes, in select areas of Bengaluru, differentiating itself from competitors like Blinkit, Swiggy Instamart, and Zepto by offering not only everyday essentials but also high-end gadgets such as laptops. Additionally, Flipkart Minutes has positioned itself with competitive pricing, offering products approximately 10% cheaper than rival services.
