Atishi Says, Kejriwal Lost 4.5 kg in Prison, Officials Disagree

Leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and minister Atishi stated today that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had dropped 4.5 kg since his incarceration on March 21. He is OK, according to Tihar jail officials, and he hasn’t lost weight since being there two days ago.
Ms. Atishi claimed that Mr. Kejriwal is a “severe diabetic” in an early post on X. “He works nonstop to serve the country despite his health issues. Following his apprehension, Arvind Kejriwal has shed 4.5 kilograms. This is quite concerning. His health is being jeopardised by the BJP. Even God won’t pardon them if something were to happen to Arvind Kejriwal, not just the nation, she declared. Even AAP tweeted from its personal X handle raising concern about Kejriwal’s health.

The Delhi Chief Minister was placed in judicial custody until April 15 and then transferred to Tihar jail on Monday. He was detained by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money laundering case involving the now-cancelled liquor policy.
A press release from Tihar Jail states that the Delhi Chief Minister’s vital signs were normal when he was checked up by two physicians on Monday after arriving at the jail. According to the report, he has consistently weighed 65 kg since he was brought to Tihar jail.

Mr. Kejriwal is being held in Tihar jail’s second jail, in a 14 by 8-foot cell. According to sources, his blood sugar level has been erratic over the past few days and once fell below 50. To lower his blood sugar, he has been prescribed medication. He has also been given a sugar sensor to check his blood sugar levels and toffees to prevent any unexpected drops, jail officials said.

Lunch and dinner are being served to the Chief Minister on time, and his health is being watched. According to jail officials, in case of an emergency, a swift response team has been stationed next to his cell.
