Arvind Kejriwal to Vacate CM Residence Within a Week, Says ‘God Will Protect Him’

Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is preparing to move out of his Civil Lines residence within a week, confirmed AAP MP Sanjay Singh on Wednesday. This development follows Kejriwal’s resignation from the top post on Tuesday, just days after being released on bail from Tihar Jail in connection with the excise policy scam.

Sanjay Singh expressed confidence that Kejriwal’s integrity would resonate with the people of Delhi. “I have full faith that the people of Delhi will give Arvind Kejriwal a certificate of honesty with a huge majority. He has served the people with complete honesty and sincerity,” Singh remarked. He added that the first thing Kejriwal mentioned after resigning was his decision to relinquish official facilities, including his government residence.

Singh also raised concerns about Kejriwal’s security, citing previous attacks on him. “He has been attacked multiple times. We have expressed concerns about his safety, but he believes God will protect him,” Singh said, adding that despite the dangers, Kejriwal remains committed to living among the common people, though his new residence is yet to be decided.

Kejriwal, who was released from Tihar Jail last Friday, surprised many by choosing Atishi, a senior AAP leader, as his successor instead of his wife, Sunita, who was widely speculated to take the position. Atishi, known for her clean image and strong governance record, currently holds significant portfolios in the Delhi government, including finance, education, and public works.

Observers suggest that Atishi’s selection may be part of a broader strategy to appeal to women voters ahead of upcoming elections early next year.
