A special PMLA court here on Thursday remanded Jharkhand minister Alamgir Alam, who was detained by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with its investigation into a money laundering case, to the agency’s custody for a period of six days, according to attorneys.

For Alam, the ED requested a 10-day remand.

Alam’s six-day remand is set to begin on Friday, according to his attorney, Kishlay Prasad.

He is under judicial custody right now. Alam is not the subject of any particular accusations. Everything is ambiguous. They are not revealing the identity of the person who has stolen money or proceeds from criminal activity. The minister is not directly involved. According to Prasad, money was taken from a Jahangir who is unrelated to Alamgir Alam.

Alam’s counsel also said that the health of the 70-year-old minister is of grave concern, while opposing the ED’s remand plea. “He has been suffering from sleep apnea, due to which his oxygen level reduces during the night. Therefore, he needs oxygen support. Such support was even provided by the family of Alam during ED custody on Wednesday night. He is also a hypertension and diabetes patient,” Prasad said.
