Evne though Arvind Kejriwal will continue to serve as Delhi’s chief minister, his wife, Sunita Kejriwal, may play a “significant role” in the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the days to come.
Sunita Kejriwal is leading the charge of the opposition’s protest against her husband Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest.
On March 21, the chief minister of Delhi was taken into custody in relation to a case of money laundering involving the Delhi excise policy.
Sunita made her recent political appearance on March 31 when she went to the INDIA bloc’s “Loktantra Bachao” rally at the Ramlila ground. She referred to Arvind Kejriwal as a “lion” who “lives in the hearts of millions of people” during the large rally. She even read aloud a letter written by Arvind Kejriwal that was held by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
She also attacked the central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for keeping Arvind Kejriwal in custody even though the court “did not find him guilty.”
“Why is he still in jail when the ED’s investigation is over and the court hasn’t found him guilty? Only keeping him incarcerated until the Lok Sabha elections is their goal, according to Sunita Kejriwal.
The Delhi Chief Minister was placed in judicial custody until April 15 by a city court on Monday. “The people of the country will answer to this dictatorship,” she declared.
In an apparent reference to Sunita Kejriwal, Union Minister and BJP leader Hardeep Singh Puri stated on Monday that a “Rabri Devi is in the making”.
“In the last seven to ten days, I have already declared three or four times that ‘Rabri Devi’ will now come forward. I’m trying to say that Sunita Kejriwal will speak up now,” Puri remarked.
