In a shocking incident in Madhya Pradesh’s Sheopur district, a 24-year-old man, Deepak Pachauri, stands accused of murdering his mother, Usha (65), purportedly to gain access to her Rs 30 lakh fixed deposit.

Police authorities disclosed that Deepak, the adopted son of the victim, reported his mother as missing to the Kotwali police in Sheopur town earlier in the week. However, suspicions arose during the investigation as Deepak provided inconsistent statements. Subsequent inquiries unveiled his dire financial situation, having lost Rs 15 lakh in the stock market.

Authorities grew more suspicious upon discovering a newly constructed section in the bathroom of their residence, leading to the uncovering of Usha’s buried remains. Deepak allegedly confessed to the crime, revealing his motive to access his mother’s fixed deposit, for which he was the nominee.

Relatives disclosed that Usha and her husband, Bhuvendra Pachauri, had adopted Deepak from an orphanage 23 years ago, and following Bhuvendra’s demise in 2021, the mother and son resided together. The arrest of Deepak underscores a tragic turn of events in Sheopur, leaving the community stunned and grieving.
