AAP Predicts INDIA Bloc’s Sweeping Victory in Chandigarh Municipal Polls

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Rajya Sabha member Raghav Chadha expressed confidence on Tuesday that the INDIA bloc, comprising AAP and Congress, would secure a resounding win in the upcoming Chandigarh municipal polls. The alliance, formed specifically for the January 18 mayoral elections in the Union Territory, aims to set the tone for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

During a press conference in New Delhi, Chadha asserted that the Chandigarh municipal polls would mark a pivotal face-off between the INDIA bloc and the BJP, predicting a historic victory for his coalition. He emphasized that this election would alter the political landscape of the country, extending its impact from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from Manipur to Mumbai.

“The scorecard after the Chandigarh mayoral elections will be 1-0 in favor of the INDIA bloc. Whenever ‘Team INDIA (bloc)’ has faced off with any other team, the people of the country have always ensured that team INDIA (bloc) wins,” Chadha confidently stated.

Under the alliance agreement for the mayoral elections, AAP will contest for the mayor’s seat, while the Congress will vie for the positions of senior deputy mayor and deputy mayor. The INDIA bloc, a coalition of opposition parties, including Congress, AAP, TMC, and the Samajwadi Party, was formed to challenge the BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

However, the press conference also addressed the Enforcement Directorate’s summons to Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal, scheduled for January 18. Kejriwal, who has been summoned for the fourth time in less than three months in connection with the Delhi excise policy-linked money laundering case, had raised objections to the summons, accusing the agency of assuming the role of “judge, jury, and executioner.”
