AAP leader and former health minister of Delhi, Satyendar Jain, was back in Tihar Jail on Monday, just hours after his regular bail request in a money laundering case was denied by the Supreme Court.
“Jain reached the Tihar jail late at night. The official process to put him in jail has begun, according to a jail official.

Jain left his home in northwest Delhi’s Saraswati Vihar neighbourhood on Monday evening to turn himself in at the jail. Jain’s lawyer asked the top court to allow him to surrender in a week, but the request was denied orally.

On January 17, the SC had stated that it would not rule on his regular bail request.

On May 26, 2023, the top court had granted temporary bail to Jain based on medical grounds; this bail was later renewed.
Jain has filed a challenge with the Supreme Court against the Delhi High Court’s order dated April 6, 2023, which dismissed his regular bail application in the case.

On May 30, 2022, the AAP leader was arrested by the ED on suspicion of money laundering through four purportedly connected companies.

Jain was arrested on the basis of a CBI FIR registered against him in 2017 under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
