A tragic incident unfolded in Joynagar, Agartala, on Monday evening when a woman allegedly strangled her nine-year-old son due to frustration over his misbehavior. The woman, Suprabha Bal, confessed to the crime and was found by the police sitting beside her son’s body. She has since been arrested and charged.

Suprabha Bal, who worked as a daily laborer at a construction site, revealed to the police that her husband was missing, and her daughter was married, leaving her to raise her son, Rajdeep, alone. She expressed feeling overwhelmed by Rajdeep’s constant misbehavior, which included stealing money and neglecting his studies. Bal stated, “I couldn’t go to work or live in peace because of his actions. I killed him and am ready to go to jail for it.”

The police recovered a piece of rope and a bamboo stick from Bal’s home, which were allegedly used in the murder. The case has shocked the local community, shedding light on the extreme pressures faced by some single parents.
