Delhi woke up to a cloudy morning on Tuesday, with light rainfall reported in several parts of the city. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the capital is expected to experience more thunderstorms and showers later in the day.
The minimum temperature in Delhi is likely to rise, with the city’s temperatures forecasted to range between 12°C and 21°C. On Monday, the temperature varied between 10.2°C and 24.4°C, with humidity recorded at 49%.
However, air quality remains a concern, with Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) in the “poor” category at 243. The IMD’s rain forecast indicates that only certain areas of Delhi will experience light rainfall today. The areas expected to see rain include Pitampura, Alipur, Dwarka, Preet Vihar, Lajpat Nagar, Delhi Airport, Lodhi Road, Vasant Vihar, Mundka, et al. Delhi’s weather is likely to shift from its typically sunny mornings, with colder conditions expected to return.
Delhi Weather Forecast for the Week:
This week, Delhi is in for a mix of rain and foggy conditions. According to the IMD’s forecast, fog will be prominent from February 5 onwards. Moderate fog is predicted for February 5, followed by shallow fog on February 6-7. Temperatures will range from 9°C to 25°C in the coming days.
The foggy trend is expected to continue on February 8 and 9, with dense fog expected and temperatures between 9°C and 25°C. This year, Delhi recorded its warmest January since 2019, with an average maximum temperature of 21.1°C, slightly above the long-term average of 20.1°C. IMD data has shown higher-than-usual nighttime temperatures.
Meteorologists have attributed the warmth to the absence of strong western disturbances, which typically bring rain and cooler conditions to the region.
“This month, while some western disturbances passed through northern India, they were weak and didn’t lead to significant snowfall or rainfall,” said weather expert Mahesh Palawat.
