The Central Government has approved field trials for ₹10 and ₹20 polymer banknotes. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman informed the Rajya Sabha about the decision in a written reply. The government plans to issue 100 crore polymer notes of each denomination. The trial will assess various aspects of using plastic-based banknotes in India.
