Two Women Marry Each Other in Uttar Pradesh by Escaping Alcoholic Husbands

In a unique tale of resilience and companionship, two women from Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur tied the knot after enduring years of domestic abuse and alcoholism in their marriages. Kavita and Gunja solemnized their union at the Shiva Temple, famously known as Choti Kashi, in Deoria.

The two women, who had connected on Instagram and remained in touch for six years, found solace in each other after sharing stories of their troubled lives. Both were victims of domestic violence and their husbands’ excessive drinking habits, which drove them to seek a new beginning together.

During the marriage ceremony, Gunja assumed the role of the groom, placing vermillion (sindoor) on Kavita’s forehead, exchanging garlands, and performing the traditional pheras. The couple expressed their determination to live a peaceful life, free from the torment they endured in their previous relationships.

Speaking to news agency PTI, Gunja said, “We were tormented by our husbands’ drinking and abusive behaviour. This pushed us to choose a life of peace and love. We have decided to live in Gorakhpur as a couple and work to sustain ourselves.”

Currently without a permanent home, the couple plans to rent a place in Gorakhpur and begin a new chapter of their lives together. Despite societal challenges, Kavita and Gunja remain resolute in their decision to stay united, symbolizing hope and empowerment for others in similar situations.
