‘Looteri Dulhan’ Arrested After Amassing Rs 1.25 Crore By Marrying and Duping Rich Men

In a shocking case of deception and exploitation, a woman nicknamed the “Looteri Dulhan” (looting bride) by police has been apprehended for orchestrating a decade-long scheme involving multiple marriages and extortion. The accused, identified as Seema, hailing from Uttarakhand, allegedly targeted vulnerable men through matrimonial websites, amassing a staggering Rs 1.25 crore through her fraudulent activities.

Seema’s trail of deceit began in 2013 with her first marriage to a businessman from Agra. Following disputes with her in-laws, she initiated legal cases against the family, ultimately securing Rs 75 lakh as part of a settlement.

Four years later, in 2017, Seema entered into a second marriage with a software engineer from Gurugram. This time, she extracted Rs 10 lakh from her husband after separating shortly thereafter.

Her most recent scheme unfolded in 2023 when she married a businessman from Jaipur. Shortly after the wedding, Seema fled her husband’s home, absconding with jewellery and cash valued at Rs 36 lakh. Her activities were exposed when the businessman’s family filed a police complaint, leading to her arrest.

Investigations revealed that Seema strategically sought out divorced or widowed men, whom she identified through matrimonial platforms. By leveraging disputes and threatening legal action, she extorted significant sums of money under the pretense of settlements.

Law enforcement officials have stated that the investigation is ongoing to uncover further details of Seema’s schemes and identify additional victims. Authorities have also urged individuals to exercise caution while using matrimonial websites, advising users to thoroughly verify profiles and remain vigilant against potential scams.
