Gurugram Company Extends Job Offers to YesMadam’s Laid-Off Staff: ‘Stressed Employees Can Excel’

In a remarkable show of solidarity, Gurugram-based Magicpin, India’s third-largest food delivery app, has extended an invitation to over 100 employees laid off by Noida-based YesMadam. The move comes after YesMadam faced criticism for terminating employees who admitted to feeling stressed in an internal mental health survey.

Magicpin’s creative director, Madhav Sharma, announced the initiative on LinkedIn, sharing a photo of two employees holding placards with impactful messages. One placard stated, “No madam. Stressed employees can perform! Because they care!” while the other highlighted the outreach, reading, “Magicpin invites laid-off employees to join across departments.” The post also provided an HR contact email for applications.

Sharma’s post emphasized that the campaign was conducted “without any stress,” a pointed remark on the controversy surrounding YesMadam’s layoffs.

The gesture has been widely praised online, with many lauding Magicpin for its empathy and action-oriented response. One user commented, “Now that’s how you make a statement and a difference. Taking notes? Yes Madam!” Another remarked, “Great initiative, Madhav Sharma! It’s important for each one of us to prioritize mental health first.”

However, the criticism of YesMadam has been equally intense. A LinkedIn user expressed outrage, writing, “It’s unbelievable that being honest about workplace stress can now cost someone their job. Shame on you, YesMadam. Instead of addressing the root cause—high work pressure and lack of support—you chose to fire those who dared to speak up.”

The incident has sparked a broader conversation about workplace mental health in India, highlighting the need for companies to create genuinely supportive environments rather than penalizing employees for honesty.

In addition to helping the affected employees, Magicpin has also opened its doors to others seeking opportunities. Sharma confirmed in his post that anyone interested in working at Magicpin could apply by sending their resumes to the email provided.

As the debate around mental health in workplaces continues, Magicpin’s proactive approach sets an example for other companies on how to handle crises with compassion and care.
