Amit Shah Slams Mallikarjun Kharge Over ‘Distasteful’ Remarks About PM Modi

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday strongly criticized Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge for his “distasteful and disgraceful” remarks made during a public meeting in Jammu and Kashmir. Shah called Kharge’s speech “a bitter display of spite,” accusing the Congress leader of unnecessarily dragging Prime Minister Narendra Modi into personal health issues.

Kharge, who is 83, fell ill during an election rally in Jasrota on Sunday, September 29. He suffered a brief health episode described as a “syncopal attack,” causing him dizziness. Despite the health scare, Kharge resumed his speech after a short pause, during which he made a controversial statement, saying he “would not die until removing Modi from power.”

The Congress leader stated, “I am 83 years old. I am not going to die so early. I will stay alive till PM Modi is removed from power,” while apologizing for the interruption caused by his illness.

Reacting sharply to these comments, Shah took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to condemn Kharge’s statements. “Yesterday, the Congress President Shri Mallikarjun Kharge Ji has outperformed himself, his leaders and his party in being absolutely distasteful and disgraceful in his speech. In a bitter display of spite, he unnecessarily dragged PM Modi into his personal health matters by saying that he would die only after removing PM Modi from power,” Shah wrote.

Shah further highlighted the alleged fear and hatred Congress leaders have for Prime Minister Modi. “It just shows how much hate and fear these Congress people have of PM Modi, that they are thinking of him constantly,” Shah said in his post.

Despite his sharp criticism, Shah expressed his wishes for Kharge’s well-being. “As for the health of Mr. Kharge Ji, Modi Ji prays, I pray, and we all pray that he lives a long, healthy life. May he continue to live for many years and may he live to see the creation of a Viksit Bharat by 2047,” Shah concluded.

Kharge’s remarks have drawn criticism from the BJP leadership, escalating the ongoing political tensions between the Congress and the BJP in the lead-up to key elections.
