Christian Kaelin, chair of Henley and Partners, highlighted the widening global mobility gap between countries. “The global average number of destinations travelers can access visa-free has nearly doubled from 58 in 2006 to 111 in 2024. However, the global mobility gap between those at the top and bottom of the index is now wider than it has ever been,” he said in a statement.
For the past 19 years, the Henley Passport Index has tracked global freedoms in 227 countries and territories worldwide, using exclusive data from the IATA. It has become the most popular interactive online tool for displaying, sorting, and ranking the world’s passports. The index is updated in real-time throughout the year as visa policy changes take effect.
