Woman Alleges Coercion in Prajwal Revanna Sex Scandal, Says She Was Pressured into Filing ‘False Complaint

In a significant development surrounding the sex video scandal implicating JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna in Karnataka, the National Commission for Women (NCW) disclosed on Thursday that a complainant has accused three men posing as police officials of coercing her to file a “false complaint.”

The woman detailed that she was pressured by a trio claiming to be law enforcement officers into registering a fabricated complaint after facing threats of harassment. The NCW further highlighted that the woman, fearing for her safety and that of her family, sought protection as the individuals, purportedly impersonating as police, continued to issue menacing threats by contacting her from various phone numbers.

A press release by the NCW stated, “One woman approached the commission to register a complaint against three individuals, dressed in civilian clothes, allegedly introduced themselves as Karnataka police and forced her to file a false complaint in this case. She stated that she was getting calls from random phone numbers, threatening to file a complaint. It has come to light that this complainant was forced by a group of individuals to file the complaint, under the threat of potential harassment and false implications.”

Subsequent to the NCW’s revelation, former Karnataka Chief Minister and JD(S) state President HD Kumaraswamy accused the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of intimidating the victims with allegations of prostitution to extract false statements.

The SIT is currently investigating the case involving former Minister H D Revanna and his son Prajwal Revanna. H D Revanna was taken into custody by the SIT on May 5 following sexual assault accusations leveled against him and his son, Prajwal.

Kumaraswamy raised concerns about the conduct of the investigation, alleging that the SIT officers are intimidating the victims by visiting their homes and threatening them. He questioned Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, who had earlier described the sex video scandal as the most significant sex scandal globally, according to an NDTV report.
