Ravneet Singh Bittu, three-time Congress MP and grandson of former Punjab CM late Beant Singh, has made a notable shift to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) just ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. During a press conference held in New Delhi, the Ludhiana MP commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, expressing their deep regard for Punjab. “Over the past decade, I’ve witnessed PM Modi and Amit Shah’s profound affection for Punjab. They harbor strong intentions for extensive developmental endeavors in the state,” Bittu remarked.
He emphasized how the Prime Minister and Home Minister consistently responded positively whenever Punjab-related issues were raised. “Our aim is to propel Punjab forward. When the nation is progressing, why should Punjab lag behind?” he questioned.
Reflecting on the dark period of terrorism in Punjab, he lauded the efforts of the BJP and RSS in fostering peace.
BJP General Secretary Vinod Tawde remarked that Bittu’s entry into the party would bolster its strength.
Notably, Ravneet Singh Bittu was part of the 27-member Punjab unit’s Pradesh Election Committee established in January. He hails from a political lineage, being the grandson of former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh and the son of former Punjab Minister Tej Parkash Singh.
This development occurred shortly after the BJP’s announcement of its decision to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections independently in Punjab. “The BJP will contest the Lok Sabha elections independently,” stated Punjab BJP Chief Sunil Jakhar in a video message shared on X.
