One of India’s leading centers for cancer research and treatment, the Tata Institute in Mumbai, claims to have found a treatment that can stop cancer from coming back the second time.
After ten years of work, the doctors and researchers at the institute have created a tablet that they believe will prevent patients from developing cancer a second time and will also cut the side effects of treatments like radiation and chemotherapy by half.
Dr. Rajendra Badve, a senior cancer surgeon at Tata Memorial Hospital and member of the research team, told a leading TV news channel that rats were given human cancer cells to implant, and the cells developed into tumors in the rats. Following that, the rats received surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy. It was discovered that these cancer cells fragment into microscopic fragments known as chromatin particles upon death. Through the bloodstream, these particles can spread to other areas of the body and, when they get inside of healthy cells, can cause cancer.”
Dr. Badve told NDTV that pro-oxidant tablets containing resveratrol and copper (R+Cu) were given to the rats by medical professionals in an attempt to solve this issue. Oxygen radicals produced by the R+Cu break down chromatin particles.
“When taken orally, the ‘R+Cu’ produce oxygen radicals in the stomach that are swiftly absorbed and enter the bloodstream. The oxygen radicals stop “metastases,” or the spread of cancer cells from one area of the body to another, and destroy the circulating cfChPs. According to the researchers, R+Cu reduces the toxicity of chemotherapy.
This tablet has the potential to mitigate the adverse effects of cancer treatment by approximately 50%. Additionally, it has been shown to be about 30% effective in preventing cancer. It may also work well for lung, pancreatic, and oral cancer.
“Tata physicians spent nearly ten years developing this tablet. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is yet to approve the tablet. Scientists from TIFR have requested approval for this tablet from the FSSAI. June or July is when it will be on sale after receiving approval,” he said.
