The internet has once again erupted over a parent-related joke, but this time, it’s not about Ranveer Allahbadia. The well-known YouTuber, also called BeerBiceps, recently sparked a major controversy following remarks he made on Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent. In the now-viral episode, Allahbadia posed an unsettling question to a contestant: “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?” The comment ignited widespread outrage, leading to legal complaints, FIRs, and ongoing public criticism.
Even as the controversy surrounding Allahbadia remains heated, another comedian has found themselves in the spotlight over a similar joke. Stand-up comedian Swati Sachdeva recently performed a set where she humorously recounted her mother’s reaction to discovering a vibrator at home.
“My mother is trying to be a cool mom, but it’s just not working. She recently found my vibrator and approached me, wanting to talk ‘as a friend.’ I was certain she was going to ask for it. She started referring to it as a gadget, a toy. I told her, ‘I swear, Mom, it belongs to Papa.’ To which she replied, ‘Don’t talk nonsense; I know his choice.’ Then she actually brought it out and started questioning me,” Sachdeva quipped during her performance.
A clip from the show circulated on social media, with an X user questioning, “There was so much scrutiny on Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia. Will she be next?” Another user lamented, “Similar joke about parents. Our culture is deteriorating.”
Criticism poured in, with comments like, “Comedy these days is just foul language and cheap jokes. Is this really an upgrade?” and “What has happened to today’s youth?”
However, many others defended the comedian. Some argued that comedy should not be taken too seriously, with one user stating, “It’s just for laughs—if you don’t like it, don’t watch it.” Another added, “If we stop fixating on such matters, we might actually focus on real issues.”
The video in question is part of Sachdeva’s Family First stand-up special, which is now available on her YouTube channel. Whether her remarks will lead to legal repercussions remains to be seen.
