4th Indian-Origin Student Shreyas Reddy Found Dead In US Within A Month

In the fourth incident of the year and the third in a week, a student of Indian descent was found dead in the US.
Shreyas Reddy Beniger, who was 19 years old, was enrolled at Ohio’s Linder School of Business. Shreyas’s parents reside in Hyderabad, officials told a TV news channel, but he holds an American passport. In this case, the authorities have ruled out any possibility of foul play or hate crimes.

An investigation to determine Beniger’s cause of death is underway, according to the Indian Mission in New York. “We are deeply saddened by the untimely passing of Mr. Shreyas Reddy Benigeri, an Ohio student of Indian descent. A police investigation is in progress. Foul play is not suspected at this time. The Indian Consulate in New York wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, “The Consulate is keeping in contact with the family and is providing them with all possible assistance.”

Purdue University student Neel Acharya was found dead earlier this week. Acharya’s mother reported him missing on Sunday. A few hours later, Acharya’s body was discovered on the campus of the university.
On January 16, a homeless man in Lithonia, Georgia, hammered Vivek Saini, a resident of Panchkula, Haryana, to death. Vivek Saini was an MBA student In Lithonia, Georgia, and worked as a part-time employee of a convenience store that provided housing for a homeless man.
In January, Akul Dhawan, an additional Indian student, was found dead outside the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). According to the autopsy, the 18-year-old’s cause of death was hypothermia.

There are over 300,000 Indian students in the US. In the last two years, 200,000 students have been issued US visas, with a huge influx after Covid.
