A truck and car crash in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, on Saturday resulted in death of four people and one was seriously injured.The two vehicles were approaching from opposing directions. The car caught fire because it was powered by compressed natural gas (CNG).
The accident occured on the Jammu-Jalandhar highway.
According to officials, the truck overturned and the car caught fire.
Police reached the spot and with the help of passersby, the injured was taken to the government hospital in Dasuya.
A nearby resident reported the collision to the police, saying, “I saw that there was a collision between a car and a truck. Four dead bodies were there. I contacted the police who arrived at the location right away”. One person was in critical condition, while the other four were pronounced dead. He was admitted to the hospital.
A doctor at the government hospital in Dasuya said: “The truck driver who was admitted here was in bad condition. Keeping the seriousness of the situation in mind, he has been referred to the government hospital at Amritsar”.
A police official present at the spot said, “There were five young men in the vehicles that collided. Four have died on the spot. One is admitted to the hospital. An investigation is under way.”
