4 Delhi Schools Again Get Bomb Threats

Bomb threats were emailed to four schools in Delhi early on Friday, prompting a multi-agency search operation. This incident follows a similar one on December 9, when bomb threat emails were sent to at least 44 schools across the city, which police later confirmed to be hoaxes.

Among the schools targeted on Friday were Bhatnagar International School in Paschim Vihar, Cambridge School in Shri Niwas Puri, DPS Amar Colony in East of Kailash, South Delhi Public School in Defence Colony, Delhi Police Public School in Safdarjung, and Venkateshwar Global School in Rohini. The emails were received between 4:21 am and 8:30 am, warning of potential bomb blasts on Friday and Saturday, mentioning parent-teacher meetings and sports day activities. The first email was sent at 12:54 am.

Delhi Fire Services, police, bomb detection units, and dog squads rushed to the schools to conduct thorough searches. Authorities also notified parents, advising them to either keep their children at home or pick them up if they had already arrived. The principal of Cambridge School, Madhavi Goswami, discovered the email during her morning routine and immediately contacted the police. She reassured parents that the situation was under control and announced that classes would be held online for the day.

Former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor, Arvind Kejriwal, expressed concern over the repeated bomb threats. On social media, he questioned the impact such incidents could have on children’s well-being and their studies, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation.

Delhi Police confirmed they were investigating the threats and ensuring the safety of students and staff. At South Delhi Public School, parents were instructed to take their children home after the school decided to send all students back.

Earlier this week, on December 9, 44 schools received similar bomb threat emails, triggering widespread panic. In that case, after extensive searches, the threats were confirmed to be hoaxes. Despite that, security remained heightened across Delhi, with additional measures such as cordoning off areas and deploying emergency response vans at major schools.
