A 30-year-old woman, mother of a four-year-old boy, was allegedly stabbed to death by her partner in a hotel in Phase 1 on Wednesday night.

Sunita Rani, a resident of Nawanshahr, was found dead in her hotel room with a fatal neck wound caused by a sharp-edged weapon. The suspect, Sunil, also from Nawanshahr, reportedly fled the scene with the child. Sunil, who is from the same village as Sunita’s husband, is currently at large. Authorities suspect that Sunil and Sunita were involved in an extramarital affair, as Sunita and her husband were in the midst of divorce proceedings.

The trio checked into the hotel on Wednesday night. When the room remained unopened late the next morning, the hotel staff alerted the police. Law enforcement is currently examining the documents submitted at the hotel reception as part of their investigation.
