A special flight carrying 119 Indian nationals deported from the United States is set to arrive at Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport in Amritsar on Saturday, according to police officials. This is the second such flight following the US government’s recent crackdown on illegal immigrants.
Sources reveal that the majority of the deportees are from Punjab, with 67 individuals returning to the state. Haryana is next with 33 deportees, while Gujarat has eight, Uttar Pradesh three, and Goa, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan each have two. There is one returnee each from Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.
A police officer, speaking anonymously, confirmed that authorities are carefully monitoring the situation. Appropriate security measures and procedural arrangements have been made at the airport, with immigration officials, police personnel, and Ministry of External Affairs representatives set to be present.
The officer also mentioned that another flight from the US is expected to land in Amritsar on Sunday, bringing more deported Indian nationals.
