22 dead, 57 injured in Jammu bus accident carrying pilgrims from UP

In the Jammu district on Thursday, a bus carrying pilgrims skidded off the road and rolled down into a gorge, killing twenty-two people and injuring fifty-seven more, according to officials.

They stated that the bus rolled about 150 feet into the gorge and that the accident occurred at the Tangli morh in the district’s Choki Chora belt.

Jammu Deputy Commissioner Sachin Kumar said, “A bus carrying passengers from Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, has met with an accident near Tanda, Akhnoor in Jammu. Rescue operations are under way.”

The injured have been shifted to the Akhnoor hospital and Government Medical College (GMC) hospital in Jammu, the officials said.

“There appear to be more casualties as the operation gets underway. Nevertheless, we won’t know the exact number until the rescue is finished,” he stated.
