2024 Lok Sabha Elections in 7 Phases, Voting Begins April 19, Results on June 4

India is gearing up for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, scheduled to be held from April 19 to June 1, as announced by the Election Commission of India. The elections will take place in seven phases, mirroring the structure of the previous election cycle. Vote counting will occur on June 4, with results eagerly anticipated across the nation.

Simultaneously, assembly elections are slated to take place in Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, and Odisha, alongside bypolls in 26 constituencies. With an estimated 97 crore eligible voters spread across more than 10.5 lakh polling stations, this electoral exercise is set to be a significant event in India’s democratic process.

The enforcement of the moral code of conduct coincides with the announcement of election dates, underscoring the commitment to fair and transparent elections. The term of the current Lok Sabha concludes on June 16, necessitating the formation of a new House before that date. Similarly, assembly terms are set to expire on various dates in June.

Reflecting on the previous general elections in 2019, where the BJP secured 303 seats while the Congress managed 52, the 2024 polls are poised as a critical battleground for the opposition INDIA bloc. The outcome of these elections will significantly shape the political landscape of the country.

Marking the calendar, the seven phases of the Lok Sabha elections are scheduled as follows: April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25, and June 1. With each phase, the electorate will engage in the democratic process, exercising their right to vote and shaping the future trajectory of India’s governance.
