20-Yr-Old Indian Student Found Dead In Boston, US

In ninth such incident with in over two months in the US, another Indian student, Abhijeeth Paruchuru, was found dead in Boston.

Paruchuru, a native of Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, was pursuing engineering at Boston University. He had joined the university last year and was sharing a rented apartment with one of his classmates.

Police found his body dumped in an abandoned car deep inside a forest in the campus. Abhijeeth was murdered by assailants on the university campus on March 11.

Officials announced on Monday that an initial investigation into the death of an Indian student in Boston has ruled out anything suspicious in yet another tragic incident.
The Indian Consulate General in New York expressed its “deep sadness” over the untimely death of Mr. Abhijeeth Paruchuru, an Indian student in Boston, in a post on X.

Based in Connecticut, Paruchuru’s parents are maintaining regular communication with detectives. According to the consulate, preliminary investigations rule out foul play.

The consulate stated that it “rendered assistance in documentation and transportation of his mortal remains to India” and that it is still in communication with the Indian-American community and local authorities regarding the situation.

The final ceremonies for 20-year-old Paruchuru have reportedly already taken place in his Andhra Pradesh hometown of Tenali. His body was brought to India with assistance from the US-based nonprofit organization TEAM Aid.

There have been at least six Indian and Indian-origin student deaths in the US since the start of 2024. The community is concerned due to the startling increase in attacks.

The Indian Embassy in Washington and its consulates around the country held virtual interactions with Indian students from across the US to discuss various aspects of student well-being and ways to stay connected with the larger community in response to the spate of attacks on Indians and people of Indian origin, including students.
