Dense smog caused a series of tragic accidents in Uttar Pradesh, leading to multiple fatalities and injuries. Among the casualties were two bikers, who succumbed to injuries sustained in separate collisions caused by poor visibility. Additionally, dozens were injured in vehicle pile-ups across the region. The thick fog, which drastically reduced visibility, resulted in chaotic road conditions, with several vehicles crashing into one another.
A truck crumpled into another on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway due to less visibility. A bus that was on its way from Panipat to Mathura could not spot the trucks and hit them from behind. About a dozen passengers in the bus were injured and rushed to hospital. Police reached the pile-up spot and started clearing the way.
Authorities have issued warnings urging drivers to exercise caution, particularly during early morning and evening hours, when visibility is at its lowest.
