13-Year-Old Girl’s Uncle, Mother Booked For Strangulating & Poisoning Her

Police have initiated a manhunt for a woman and her brother-in-law, accused of poisoning and strangling her 13-year-old daughter to death in their home in Shampur village, Mohali, on July 11.

The accused, identified as Angrej Kaur and Jagtar Singh, have been charged under Sections 103 (1) (murder), 123 (causing hurt by means of poison), 238 (causing any evidence of the commission of that offence to disappear), and 3(5) (act done by several persons) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Sohana police station.

According to police, the tragedy unfolded when the minor girl caught her mother and uncle in a compromising position at their home while her father, an army soldier, was away on duty.

Fearing exposure, the accused allegedly forced the girl to consume poison and subsequently strangled her to death around 9:30 pm.

In an attempt to cover up their crime, the pair reportedly cremated the body early the next morning, before the girl’s father, Gurdip Singh, could return home.

The incident came to light after suspicious villagers reported their concerns to the police last week. This led to an investigation by officers from the Saneta and Sohana police stations.

“Following the investigation, we have booked the two accused for murder. Evidence suggests that the teenager was poisoned and strangled by her mother and uncle, who were engaged in an illicit relationship. The crime occurred after the victim caught them in an objectionable state. We are actively working to apprehend them,” stated Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) HS Bal.
