In a series of significant developments within the British royal family, King Charles reportedly held a private meeting with the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, as the palace began outlining plans for Prince William’s eventual ascension to the throne. According to sources cited by Radar Online, the septuagenarian monarch, who is currently battling cancer, has grown increasingly close to his daughter-in-law, who is also undergoing treatment for cancer.
“She and Charles had a private meeting about her stepping up sooner than expected,” an insider revealed. “As you’d imagine, the relationship between the two of them is incredibly close. They’ve been a huge source of comfort to each other through their side-by-side battles against cancer.”
The source further disclosed that King Charles has taken deliberate measures to ensure Kate has sufficient space to recover while preparing for the responsibilities ahead. “It’s also why Charles has taken great pains to give her plenty of space to recover for the inevitable moment that he and Camilla pass on the baton,” the insider added.
The private meeting highlights the royal family’s proactive approach to ensuring a seamless transition of power. Palace officials are reportedly focused on supporting Prince William and Kate Middleton as they prepare for their future roles as King and Queen Consort.
Royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith told People that the King’s health challenges have necessitated adjustments in the family’s duties. “Although the King is carrying out his duties with typical determination, he has had to accept limitations during his cancer treatment. As a result, William has been taking on more responsibilities, and he and Kate have been preparing for their future roles sooner than they would have expected,” Smith explained.
Smith also emphasized the importance of prioritizing Kate’s health during this period. “They are next in line for the biggest job of their lives, and of course, Kate’s health has taken priority, but it’s also allowed everyone to take a step back and figure out what’s important right now,” she added.
