More than 40 schools in Delhi received bomb threats via email on Monday, according to the Delhi Police. Among the affected schools were Mother Mary’s School, British School, Salwan Public School, Delhi Public School (DPS), and Cambridge School.
The wave of threats started with Delhi Public School in RK Puram and GD Goenka School in Paschim Vihar. Police reported that DPS received the threat at 7:06 am, while GD Goenka was notified at 6:15 am.
The threatening email stated, “I planted multiple bombs inside the buildings. The bombs are small and well hidden. They won’t cause much damage to the buildings, but many people will be injured when they detonate. If I do not receive $30,000, I will detonate the bombs.”
In response, school administrations acted swiftly, evacuating students and sending them home. Police, along with fire and bomb detection teams, a dog squad, and local officers, conducted search operations at the schools. So far, no suspicious objects have been found at either DPS or GD Goenka.
AAP leader Manish Sisodia expressed his concern, stating, “It’s shocking that children are not safe in the city. The BJP has created an atmosphere of fear in Delhi. The law and order situation has collapsed. If the national capital is not safe, what is the central government doing? I have never seen such a state of fear in Delhi.”
