Celebrated filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali has addressed ongoing rumors about his upcoming film Love And War, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Bhansali dismissed speculation that his highly anticipated project is a remake of the 1964 classic Sangam.

“You should not remake Sholay or Mother India. So, why would I remake Sangam?” Bhansali said, putting the rumors to rest. The director explained that Love And War is a unique project, unlike his previous films that often feature grand period settings and extravagant costumes. “It’s contemporary. The music is different. It’s a new space for me, and I’m enjoying it.”

Bhansali expressed his excitement about reuniting with Ranbir Kapoor after 18 years, following their last collaboration on Saawariya (2007). “It’s exciting to work with Ranbir again,” he shared, hinting that the actor will be portrayed in a fresh light. The filmmaker also praised Alia Bhatt, with whom he worked on his National Award-winning film Gangubai Kathiawadi. “There’s still so much to tap into with Alia. She’s a powerhouse,” he said.

For Vicky Kaushal, this marks his first collaboration with Bhansali. The director emphasized the emotional connection he shares with his cast, describing Love And War as a deeply personal project. Bhansali admitted the film is a challenging one and expressed his commitment to taking his time with the project to ensure it meets high expectations. “It’s a difficult film for me, so I’m being careful. I won’t take my actors, myself, or the audience for granted.”

Fans will need to exercise patience, as Love And War is slated for release in March 2026. With the film marking new creative territory for Bhansali, it has already garnered significant attention and anticipation.
