TV actress and friend of Indian dancer Amarnath Ghosh, Devoleena Bhattacharjee, reported on Friday that Ghosh had been shot and killed in the US.
As she asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for assistance on Tuesday, Bhattacharjee said that he had been shot “multiple times” while going for an evening stroll in St. Louis City, Missouri.
“On Tuesday night, my friend Amarnath Ghosh was shot and killed in the St. Louis Academy neighborhood in the United States. His mother passed away three years ago. His father died when he was a young boy. Well, the reason, the accused’s details everything are not revealed yet or perhaps no one left in his family to fight for it except his few friends,” she wrote.
Amarnath Ghosh belonged to Kolkata . He was a skilled Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam dancer.
He was enrolled at Washington University in St. Louis to pursue an MFA in dance. A master of four dance forms, he attended Chennai’s Kalakshetra Academy.
The International Cultural Ministry had awarded Mr. Ghosh a National Scholarship for Kuchipudi. Padma Sri Adyar K Lakshman, Bobita Dey Sarkar, and Sri MV Narasimhachari were his instructors.
