In an argument over service fee payments, Google started deleting the apps of ten Indian companies on Friday. Among them were some well-known matrimony apps, like Bharat Matrimony, which may lead to a confrontation with startup businesses.
The dispute revolves around attempts by a few Indian startups to prevent Google from enforcing an in-app payment fee of 11% to 26%, following an order from the antitrust authorities of the nation to remove an earlier system that charged between 15% and 30%.
However, two court rulings in January and February—one by the Supreme Court—effectively gave Google the green light to impose the fee or remove apps without providing any relief to startups.

The Indian companies Matrimony.com, which operates the app BharatMatrimony, and Info Edge, which operates the app Jeevansathi, which is similar, have received notices of Play Store violations from the Alphabet Inc. unit.
Executives from both companies told Reuters that they are analyzing the notice and will think about what to do next.
